10 Ways to Get More Followers on TikTok

In this post you’re going to learn how to get more TikTok followers in 2020. In fact, these are the same strategies I used to grow my TikTok account to 48,200 followers just in one year.

With my tips, I was able to help many starters make it and, today, I am going to show you exactly how you can do it, too.

Let’s get the ball rolling…

  1. Choose A Specific Niche
  2. Make Sure Your Profile Looks Attractive
  3. Use Follow/Unfollow Method
  4. Stay Consistent With Posting
  5. Use Trending Tags In Your Videos
  6. Post During The Peak Hours
  7. Do Not Focus on Perfection
  8. Share Your Videos on Other Social Media
  9. Use Popular Music
  10. Stand Out From The Crowd

We all know that the future is online and that the shiniest stars are platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. These social media websites are hubs of modern day conversation, change, and growth, with the numbers of users growing by the day. Whether you want to boost your personal brand or help your company grow, you can totally benefit from one of the fastest growing platforms, the almighty TikTok.

You can literally become an online super star on TikTok and reach millions of people. However, as many more users sign up daily, the popularity of the app goes higher, therefore making the efforts of getting more followers less easy. This means that you have to look at things more objectively and start implementing some of the strategies outlined below.

Choose A Specific Niche

Many people try to succeed on TikTok, but not all of them do and the reason for that is failing to select a niche. It is absolutely critical to select a specific niche in the market where you will build your brand.

It’s absolutely necessary that you pick the right niche for yourself. Picking the wrong niche that you have no interest in is picking failure, right from the beginning. If you are having problems figuring out what niche to pick, ask yourself the following question: “What am I interested in?”

If you are not passionate about your niche, you will have a harder time succeeding. The next question to ask yourself is: “Are people interested in my niche?” For best results, pick a sizable market. As long as your chosen field is something you love, this is all you need to arm yourself with for TikTok success.

Make Sure Your Profile Looks Attractive

Trying to convert large numbers of followers? The little details matter when it comes to your profile optimization. Your profile picture, username, and the information your provide can all leave strong impressions on those who visit your account.

Avoid creating super long usernames that are hard to remember. Trust me, it will not help you gain more recognition. The best usernames are the ones that are short and catchy. Usernames that stand out from the crowd.

Also, as part of the branding process, avoid using different usernames throughout other social media platforms. In your profile bio, you want to let your audience know what type of videos you make. Basically, your bio is your sales pitch. So be as specific as possible. After picking your niche, establishing your profile is the second most important step.

Use Follow/Unfollow Method

Follow/Unfollow is a popular strategy which works very effectively. This method is simple and anyone can do it. It’s, essentially, following and unfollowing TikTok accounts regularly to gain followers on your account. In other words, you follow tons of accounts with the intention of getting followed in return.

Now, you can follow random people but you don’t want to do that, as it will result in a lower conversion rate. Instead, what you want to do is find influencers in your niche and follow those who follow them, since you are posting similar things as the influencer. Their audience is going to be more likely to be interested in your content and will most likely follow you back.

On Instagram, they allow you to follow up to 7,500 users, only. If you followed that amount, about 15% may follow you back. Now, on TikTok, it’s a different story, with about 30% of the users following you back. Although you can not see those who liked the TikTok videos at the moment, you can just follow the followers of the influencers in your Niche. It still gets the job done.

Stay Consistent With Posting

TikTok is all about consistency. One of the most important things, when it comes to succeeding on this app, is posting frequently. In fact, it is the secret sauce.

Many people get super excited when they make a TikTok account and start posting every day for maybe a few weeks. Then, they stop. Nothing gets posted and their engagement dies when they come back to post two months later.

Algorithms don’t favor that person anymore due to their lack of consistency. You don’t want to start out strong, build momentum and lose all that momentum because you got lazy. So, creating content and posting consistently, and sticking to it, is one of the best ways you can strengthen your TikTok presence. By posting regularly you will achieve an increase in engagement and, maybe even more importantly, your fans will always look forward to your content.

You want to look for hashtags and ride the trend waves. Doing videos that are going viral at the moment can keep you relevant in the TikTok community. Many challenges go viral from week to week on this app. Try to incorporate one of the next viral challenge videos into your content to get more followers.

Not only that but, when you do post your videos, you want to have a great hashtag strategy. Knowing how to target people is essential, not just on TikTok but on all social media platforms.

This app allows short captions, so keep your text short and try to use around 5-6 hashtags. Keep in mind, at least 3-4 of those tags needs to be related to your video for better visibility.

Post During The Peak Hours

Remember how we talked about consistency earlier? Sharing new content at least twice a day can actually get you more followers and the reason for that is that it improves the exposure of your videos. But, if you post your videos during the peak hours, which are 11:00 A.M. and around 5:30 P.M., these are the times when the average person who uses TikTok gets on the app.

The best way to figure out your specific peak hours is to get to know your audience. Study their behaviour, and study yours, to find out how frequently you use TikTok, and at what times. This will help you create the best times to post on TikTok to make your posts and maximize your exposure.

Do Not Focus on Perfection

Let me tell you the number one reason why so many people fail. They fail because they don’t start. They watch others who take action, and go from zero to TikTok hero, eventually leaving those who wanted to start with nothing but regrets that they didn’t.

Success doesn’t care about Could have, Should have, or Would have. These excuses are not going to get you far. You don’t need perfect videos to go viral. In fact, videos that go viral are the videos that people can relate to, so it’s the average people’s videos that don’t look super professional that typically do best.

You don’t need to seek perfection. I have seen some videos that were so imperfect, in my eyes, they should have only gotten a couple of likes. Instead, they ended up hitting 500K+ likes. So you don’t need the perfect lighting, make-up on your face, or excellent camera. Get rid of those excuses and start making content.

Just get started. Do what you can with what you have and, trust me, you will make it.

Share Your Videos on Other Social Media

I can’t stress enough how important it is to share your content on other social media platforms. You may ask why? Well those that go on Facebook don’t go on other platforms very much, and the same goes for the other major social media channels. They all have their own audiences so, in order for you to maximize your TikTok visibility, you will need to share your videos on other big platforms.

Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest and even Reddit. Hit them all. This way, you won’t be limiting your users to any particular social media network.

I am not saying you need to be dancing on TikTok, like everybody else, but if you are one of those who wants to dance, you can use popular songs from app’s chart. It will help you get more exposure from TikTok.

There is a magic in music that is trending. Everyone loves it and anything that is attached to what they like becomes something easier for them to like. You can use these popular trending songs for basically anything. With access to all the great editing tools this app offers, you can turn the most uninteresting thing into one of the most interesting things.

Stand Out From The Crowd

My final tip for you is to stand out from the crowd. Too many people are copying each other, I mean, at least 95% of the influencers on TikTok do exactly that.

Try to provide some value. Don’t just upload the same thing as everyone else. Upload something exciting. Something different. Find your own voice. I am not saying it’s a bad thing to emulate success, and I would encourage you to do so but, after you get the hang of it, it’s time for you to create your own voice in the community.

It might feel uncomfortable for you to set your own tone at first but, after continuous practice and reengineering, you will feel confident enough to make content with the same potential as the big hitters. Remember: don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and do something new every once in a while. Your followers will respect that.

The best way I’ve found to think outside the box is to shut down all negative thoughts that pop up in your head of people judging you. Once you shut that side down, you will be unstoppable. What others think of you is none of your business!

Conclusion

It’s really easy to get followers on TikTok when you know what you’re doing. Perhaps you’ve watched some tutorials on YouTube or read some other blogs giving you more information on how to get more followers.

But a lot of this advice is just surface deep, with people copying tips from each other and giving you fake information that doesn’t really work. But don’t worry: this method is a lot stronger than some information you find out there. Just follow these 10 simple tips and you will, for sure, get more followers on TikTok.

And, please: try to avoid buying fake followers. It will not do you any good.
